— Hand Carved Memorials – Stone Lettering

An enlightening short interview with a craftsman of an ancient trade. In an age of the disposable, the digital and the momentary an occupation where your work could last for many centuries, must be both incredibly rewarding and daunting at the same time. Definitely not a game for the impatient or underpracticed, nor someone not able to show complete empathy with the customer.

Stone carver and letter cutter Fergus Wessel speaks about his love of lettering in stone, and the process involved in making fine hand carved headstones, memorials, opening plaques and heraldry. Fergus runs Stoneletters, a creative stone carving studio in Oxfordshire, with clients from all over the UK.
